Donegal Local Enterprise Office launches Creative Industry Survey

Local Enterprise Office Donegal announced the launch of its creative industry survey to gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges that exist for those working in the creative sector across Donegal.  The survey forms part of an overall skills audit of businesses in the sector and will inform the strategic direction of the Creative Coast Donegal Initiative

The Creative Coast Donegal Initiative was developed and launched in 2015, with a vision “to build a strong creative and digital economy in Donegal with businesses that are robust, confident, financially viable and collaboration-friendly, all impacting positively on the local economy in terms of job creation, as well as being pro-active and competitive on an international stage”

Speaking at today’s announcement, James Doherty of Greeble.tv said “I am delighted to be here to help launch the creative industry survey.  I am fortunate to have benefitted from the support and guidance of the Donegal Enterprise Office in setting up my business and I am thankful for the successes I have achieved to date.  I know well however that there have been many challenges to the creative sector, across the board, but I would encourage all members of the sector to have their voices heard and complete the survey. It’s only when we know what the challenges are that we can start to identify solutions to really build the sector.”

Speaking about the audit, Michael Tunney, Head of Enterprise Donegal said: “The Creative Coast Donegal initiative was developed by Local Enterprise Office Donegal to build a strong creative and digital economy in the county, with businesses that are flourishing, confident, financially viable and willing to collaborate. All of these elements impact positively on our local economy in terms of job creation, as well as allowing businesses to be pro-active and competitive on an international stage. This audit will arm us with the information and insights we need to ensure we are being as efficient as possible in helping businesses in Donegal’s creative sector.”

Adding to this Grace Korbel, Business Advisor at the Local Enterprise Office Donegal said “Donegal is awash with creative talent, something which we are extremely proud of. Our role in the Enterprise Office is to ensure that those in the creative sector are fully supported to achieve success.  We want to hear what they have to say and understand how best we can help to ensure that the sector grows and flourishes. The audit will be carried out via an online survey which takes under five minutes to complete. I would encourage anyone who is working in the creative industries to sign up to the Creative Coast network and take part in the survey, so that we can ensure Donegal’s creative sector continues to grow with the correct supports.”

Earlier this year, Sonya Lennon launched the newly revamped Creative Coast Donegal website. The website has become a hub for local creative entrepreneurs to grow and promote their work and business. The creative industry survey can be accessed at www.creativecoastdonegal.ie and will be available from now until the 20th of January 2022.
